Delingpole may not have noticed this, but the Tories don't actually command a majority in Parliament and must therefore please a coalition partner to stay in power, therefore how eurosceptic Cameron is personally is largely irrelevant. He has to reflect the views of the 64 per cent of voters who actively voted against him - which is sort of how it's meant to work in a democracy.

Heath had a majority and, indeed, a share of the vote the modern Tories could only dream of, which gave him a little more leeway.

I'm disappointed that the mainstream media aren't giving UKIP, and in particular Nigel Farage, the coverage they deserve given all Nigel's speeches over the years that even Nostradamus would be proud of. Then again, I'm also surprised that the above mentioned websites' don't seem to be up to date as I would have thought UKIP should be capatalising as much as possible at this time. As somebody not previously interested in politics, I've become a big Farage fan over the last 12 months. Many of my non-political friends have little idea of the difference between UKIP, BNP and EDL. When I told one guy that I would vote UKIP, he replied "Yeah, but the leader has no charisma"...he actually thought the leader of UKIP was Nick Griffin! Crazy, but I don't think he is on his own. The next few days are a fantastic opportunity for Nigel and UKIP to exploit the current situation and stake a claim amongst "average Joes" who are watching the news more closely right now. Come on Nigel, step it up right now...in the iconic words of Delia Smith, "Where are ya!"

DC may be a let-down in several ways - but to suggest he could be anything like as bad as Heath, Bliar, or El Gordy makes no sense whatever.

Bliar is probably the worst of all - thanks to his capitulation to the IRA, his vandalising of the Constitution, his taking this country into a needless war, & his lack of character. He far exceeds DC in badness.

Big thick blue wax crayons will do. The legal-eagles should consider the legality of the EU before they bark 'within the law!. Also, hang a half-burnt EU flag outside your house or from your car. It is no time for British phlegm and fear of the council. For the meeker sorts, a ballpoint will do, scratched on any visible surface in public view. For those who fear the law, use your own refuse bin. I don't think graffiting your own refuse bin is illegal. Or perhaps only 'Think Green' is permitted.

More bad news David.
Since the UK has now signed up to the EU, we will have to abide by EU rules on voting. Just as previously implemented in the the Irish Lisbon treaty vote and more recently in Slovakia, these rules mean that any MP's who vote NO on the proposed motion will be kindly asked to vote again until they produce the correct YES answer.

For some reason I can't comment on the Telegraph article featuring a load of waffle from William Hague today - so I'll do it here.

Absolute crap Mr Hague. The Euro is going down - all you muppets are doing is delaying it by a few weeks. I believe I speak for the majority of people in the UK when I say that any more UK tax payer money to prop up the clown show that is the Euro is not acceptable. We know perfectly well what the IMF is by the way, and any more funds through them is not acceptable either.

Any MP failing to back this debate is guilty of high treason against the people of the UK.

I am not British but I am really disgusted about how you blokes have let yourself go. I remember as a child learning about the Magna Carta, The 1689 bill of rights, the wars to develop parliamentary democracy. Do you realise that in the world today probably 3 Billion people, nearly one half of the worlds popoulation, live in a governmental and legal system based on the British concepts of common law and parliamentary democracy and this includes the USA. How have you degraded yourselves so much. As Winston Churchill said about the Pilots of the Battle of Britian "Never have so few given so much". This could easily be said about the British people with respect to freedom in the world. Where have you all gone?

Cameron just lauded the murder of the Libyan leader. No trial. Just murder. Is *that* why "we are over there"? [Not that "we" are, of course, but "our boys" are... er, not that my boys are... but, well, you know what I mean - just need to find the right cliché].

You know what I want to see? I want to see some of these so-called bogey men actually put on trial and I want to see the evidence and hear the defence. But hey, we are not allowed to see any of that. It's all hush-hush, you know, national security and all that. We just have to accept the word of our owners that these are "bad people", people who deserve to be murdered by the state without trail.

Will it be you next? Or me? There is no justice in what happened. Cameron goes on about remembering the victims of the "evil one" they just took out but he is supporting a much greater evil against our own "democracy" - no trial, no defence, no evidence, just a bullet through the head from one of your overlords because they say you are a baddie. Scary times. Even scarier that everyone just accepts this as being okay. People should be furious! But instead they think it is a good thing.

One main reason for Cameron's dislike of a free democratic vote on an EU referendum is that he fears that he will no longer be in control of events. And, a PM of any flavour rarely wants that. Nevertheless, it would be better for Britain if politicians could get it into their thick heads that what matters most is the national interest. The national interest is a nation fully in control of its destiny. The EU subverts that interest. I have rarely heard of a debate so obvious in its conclusion: give the people a referendum on the EU.
